Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton, TX, is hiring for a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Home Health Aide for Hospice Sunset.

This is a PRN position. 


Job Duties:

  • Carries out health care tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the Plan of Care developed by the IDT and ordered by the physician.
  • Participates as possible in the IDT
  • Assists with the patient’s personal grooming including care of hair, nails, teeth, mouth, dressing and shaving
  • Gives full or partial bath in bed, tub or shower
  • Assists patient on and off the bedpan, commode or toilet
  • Assists the patient in walking and in moving from the bed to the chair or wheelchair
  • Take temperature, pulse and check respiration and blood pressure when assigned
  • Keep simple records for documentation
  • Report a change in condition or status immediately to RN or LVN
  • Tidy the patient’s room/care area
  • Make and change the patient’s bed
  • Maintain open communication with the patient, family, staff and other responsible persons
  • Attend staff development programs as necessary and appropriate
  • If trained, assist the patient with special exercises, measure intake and output
  • Assist with prescribed skin care
Experience:
  • One-year full-time experience in direct patient care in an institutional setting such as a hospital or nursing home, OR
  • One-year full-time experience within the last five years in direct patient care in an agency setting, OR
  • Satisfactorily complete an approved training and competency evaluation program, OR
  • Satisfactorily completes an approved competency evaluation, OR
  • Provides appropriate documentation that he/she is a student in a nursing program and possesses basic nursing skills in accordance with the school’s curriculum
  • Be on the Texas Department of Human Services Nurse Aide Registry with no finding against the aide relating to client abuse or neglect or misappropriation or client property
  • Must have a demonstrated sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick
Education:
  • High school diploma desirable
  • Ability to read, speak and write English sufficiently to safely understand instructions and be safely understood
  • Must complete as least twelve hours of continuing education each year
