We are seeking a Director of Palliative Care to oversee the overall clinical and financial operations of our Palliative Care Program. This role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and evaluating program goals that promote high standards of quality patient care while ensuring sound financial success. The Director will drive clinical and operational growth, manage team development, and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines while delivering patient-centered, compassionate care.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of clinical and financial operations for the Palliative Care Program

  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, and standards that ensure high-quality care and financial sustainability

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate program staff to foster professional growth and ensure team success

  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations

  • Monitor and manage budgets, expenditures, and branch-level financial performance

  • Partner with medical directors, practitioners, and care teams to deliver individualized, patient-centered treatment plans

  • Establish strong community partnerships to expand awareness of palliative services and support business growth

  • Maintain accountability for quality assurance, performance improvement, data reporting, and outcomes measurement

  • Provide direct clinical care (if Nurse Practitioner) including assessment, treatment planning, prescribing, and coordination of care with interdisciplinary teams

About You

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience in healthcare operations and staff management

  • In-depth understanding of palliative and hospice care models

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance billing and reimbursement practices

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to balance clinical excellence with operational and financial management

Education and Experience

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required; Nurse Practitioner preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare administration/operations management experience

  • Minimum 2 years Nurse Practitioner experience preferred (Family or Adult Medicine specialty)

  • Prior experience with budget development, monitoring, and accountability

  • Understanding of palliative care, hospice, or home health strongly preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance

Compensation may vary within the salary range provided based on several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s location, experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications and department equity.  Gentiva provides associates with a comprehensive benefits and total rewards package, of which base pay is just one piece.

 

Salary Range – $109,080 to $136,355
