Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Palliative Care Massage Therapist to join our dedicated team. This role focuses on providing therapeutic touch and massage services to enhance the comfort and well-being of medically fragile individuals, particularly within the pediatric population. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and families in end-of-life care settings, employing specialized massage techniques to address physical and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized massage therapy sessions tailored to the unique medical, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients receiving palliative care.
- Utilize therapeutic touch techniques to promote relaxation, reduce pain, and improve overall quality of life.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, social workers, and caregivers, to integrate massage therapy into holistic care plans.
- Provide guidance and education to families on safe and effective techniques to support their loved ones.
- Maintain detailed records of therapy sessions and contribute to care team discussions on patient progress.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience working with the medically fragile population.
- At least one year of clinical experience with the pediatric population, preferably involving end-of-life care.
- Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) with current certification and licensure in the state of New York.
- Specialized training or certifications in palliative care massage or pediatric massage therapy is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to create a nurturing and supportive environment for children and families.
License/Certification:
Must have a valid NYS Massage Therapy License
